Devoted to his family

WOLCOTT – E. William “Bill” Schweikher age 79 of Wolcott passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 21, 2023, in the comfort of his home after an extended illness surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was the devoted husband of Janette (Sherwood) Schweikher.

Bill was born on April 16, 1944 in Clevland, OH the son of the late E. William Sr and Elinor (Houle) Schweikher. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Orange High School in Shaker Heights OH. He then graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in chemical engineering. Bill worked for many years at McDermid Inc until his retirement. He enjoyed cooking, theater, traveling, especially cruises, but most of all, he was a devoted husband, father and brother. Bill was known for his generosity and was the type of guy that would “Give you the shirt off his back” He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, besides his devoted wife, are his son Andrew Schweikher and his wife, Danielle of Cheshire, and his brother, John G. Schweikher and his wife Jean of Cumming GA. His grandchildren Reese and Ruby as well as several nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Robert. He is also survived by his Mother-in-law Jean S. Smith of Newtown (formerly Bethlehem) and his sisters in law, Peg Sherwood and Libby Millar and their families.
Bill’s family would like to acknowledge and extend their most heartfelt appreciation to the nurses, physicians, and staff at the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center for the love and care they shared with Bill and his entire family.

A memorial gathering for Mr. Schweikher will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 11:00 until 1:00 pm at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury, CT 06705. Relatives and friends may visit with the Schweikher family during those hours. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
