Obituary

PLYMOUTH- It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mrs. Doris J. (Hamel) Nata age 80 say farewell for now to our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who passed peacefully at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. A resident of Plymouth and formerly of Prospect, Doris was the beloved wife of Francisco “Chico” Nata.

Doris was born on April 23, 1946, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the beloved daughter of the late Reynold and Eileen (Shirley) Hamel. She was raised in Prospect and devoted her life to serving others through her various roles in the workforce. She worked at Timex in Waterbury, Von Trapp Restaurant as a sous chef and Timex's Gyroscope Manufacturing, but it was her time as a Physical Therapist Aide in the healthcare industry that truly brought her fulfillment. Doris's compassionate nature and dedication to her work left a lasting impact on her coworkers and the many patients she cared for. She enjoyed cooking and decorating cakes for her loved ones. She treasured the simple pleasures in life, like fishing adventures with her beloved husband, Chico. Her family was the center of her universe, and she poured her love and devotion into every moment spent with them. May her legacy of love and compassion live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Family would like to give a special thanks and recognition to the nurses that took amazing care of Doris at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital: Katelynn, Ella and Ava, thank you for everything you do.

Besides her husband, Francisco “Chico”, Doris leaves to cherish and honor her memory, are her children: Robert E. Restivo and his wife Diane and Tina Schultz and her husband William, and her grandchildren: Renee, Kristine, Brianna, Melinda, Phillip and Sarah. She also leaves behind her siblings: Patrica Lukasavage and her husband John, Marylou Orsini and her husband Bob and Rhea Hamel, her step-children: Christina Ross and her husband Edward and Melanie Estrada and her husband Nikko, several great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members and beloved friends. She was predeceased by her grandson: Brian White and her former husband, James Sullivan.
