Mrs. Dolores (O'Brien) Semeraro

WATERBURY - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Dolores (O'Brien) Semeraro shares the sad news of her peaceful passing surrounded by the love and comfort of her family at Cherry Brook Health Care Center in Canton on June 18, 2025, at the age of 94. She was the widow of Domenic J. Semeraro.

Dolores was born on February 10, 1931, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the daughter of the late James and Ethel (Greenwood) O'Brien. Growing up in Waterbury, Dolores dedicated many years of her life to her work as a Quality Control Inspector for Holgrath Corporation, where her industrious nature and keen eye for detail shone through. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she was a proud parishioner of Saint Francis Xavier Church, where she found comfort and a sense of connection within her community. One of Dolores' greatest joys was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her loving presence will be profoundly missed by her family, who knew that her love was as steadfast as her passion for life. In her leisure time, Dolores found joy in crocheting, reading, and challenging her mind with word puzzles. Evenings were sacred; all her family knew better than to interrupt her cherished “Shows” — especially "Jeopardy" and "Wheel of Fortune." And the David Muir News. Dolores Semeraro’s life was a tapestry of love, faith, and devotion, and she will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.

Dolores family would like to thank and acknowledge Cherry Brook Health Care Center as well as McLean Homecare caregivers Linda, Marjorie and Trung for all the compassionate care and support they provided to Dolores and the family during her illness. You have all gone beyond the call of duty and comforted Dolores daily. A special thanks also to granddaughter Lindsay for all of her support, input and follow-up on Meme's care.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her children, John Semeraro and his wife, Katherine of Martinsburg, W.V., Domenic Semeraro and his wife, Barbara, of Cape Coral, FL, David Semeraro and his wife, Lori, of Waterbury, and Linda Castaldi and her husband, Steven, of Torrington. Dolores also leaves her sister, Karen Matott, and her recently departed husband, Raymond, as well as her eight grandchildren Lindsay and Kurt Seiser, Ryan Castaldi, Beth and Ron Burdette, Michael Semeraro, Kristy and Christopher Chieppo, Matthew and Angela Semeraro and Thomas and Eleanor Semeraro and nine great-grandchildren. In addition she also leaves her sister in law Florence O’Brien several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members and friends. She is predeceased by her brother Edward O’Brien.

A Memorial Service for Dolores will be held on Monday, June 30th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
