IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dolores
Malanga
September 15, 1936 – March 12, 2026
OAKVILLE- It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Dolores (Nester) Malanga, age 89 of Oakville, shares the news of her peaceful passing on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Midstate Medical Center. She was the beloved widow of Mr. Michael Malanga
Dolores was born on September 15, 1936, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the daughter of the late John and Alice (Collins) Nester. Dolores was a devoted homemaker who poured her heart into caring for her family. Her nurturing spirit was felt by all who knew her. As a parishioner of Saint Mary Magdalen Church, she found solace and community in her faith, often sharing her warmth and kindness with others in the congregation. She delighted in the thrill of gambling and spent many happy hours at casinos, reveling in the excitement of the slot machines. An avid traveler, she created lasting memories with trips to Italy and Hawaii, each journey enriching her spirit and broadening her horizons. Dolores also harbored a sweet tooth; her love for chocolate and other treats brought joy to her and those around her. She always rooted for the underdog, championing those who needed support. Dolores seldom missed an episode of "General Hospital” and “Survivor”, two of her favorite shows.
“The Coffee Is On”
Left to honor and cherish her memory and legacy are her son, Danny Malanga of Harwinton, her daughter Hollie (Malanga) Hillman, and her husband Steven of Florida, her daughter-in-law, Kristina Hallock-Battelli of South Carolina, her grandchildren; Jana Malanga and her partner Andrew Foreman of Coventry, Sara Carlin and her husband Kevin of Florida, Chris Hillman and his wife Jenna of Florida, and Jesse Hillman of Florida, as well as her beloved great-grandchildren; Iverson and Layna. She also leaves behind many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members and friends. Dolores was predeceased by her sister, Joan Martel.
Funeral services for Mrs. Malanga will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Casey-O'Neill Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 742 Main St, Oakville, CT, has been honored to care for Dolores and support her family during this difficult time. In this time of reflection, the family welcomes all who knew and loved Dolores to share messages of condolence, comfort, and cherished memories.
