Diane Affhauser

May 24, 1967 — August 2, 2025

Waterbury

WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Mrs. Diane (Wachtel) Affhauser age 58 of Waterbury, share the news of her unexpected passing on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Earl Raymond Affhauser.

Diane was born on May 24, 1967, in South Fork, North Dakota, the beloved daughter of Bruce Wachtel of Afton Virginia and the late Evelyn (Endrikis) Wachtel. A graduate of Kennedy High School, Diane dedicated her entire working life to her calling as a hairdresser. She cherished her work as a cosmetologist, not merely for the craft itself, but for the joy of serving her many loyal clients with kindness, care, and genuine friendship.

Of all her blessings in life, two remained closest to Diane’s heart: her family and her faith. She had a multitude of interests and talents, from her love of long walks to her passion for reading, yet her greatest joy was found in her roles as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, and adoring grandmother.

Diane’s life was firmly rooted in her faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She lived each day as a humble servant of God, sharing His word not just through scripture, but through the way she loved, taught, and cared for others. The Bible was her guide, and her quiet witness will endure in the hearts of those she touched. Her legacy is one of love, faith, and service—a life well-lived in devotion to her family, her community, and above all, her Lord. May Diane now find eternal rest in the arms of her Savior, and may her memory forever be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

Besides her husband, left to honor and cherish her memory are her daughter, Jessica Batiz and her husband, Victor of Clayton NC and their two children; Isabelle and Carlos, her siblings; Deborah Thibodeau of Plainville CT, Denise Cooke and her husband Bill of Waterbury and Douglas Wachtel of Winsted CT as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, her loyal clients and extended family and friends.
