Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great- Grandfather
WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness that the family of Dennis G. Bernard, age 80, of Waterbury, share the news of his passing on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Saint Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Marilyn F. (Gilbert) Bernard.
Dennis was born in Rumford, Maine on June 6, 1944, the son of the late Andrew and Marie (Brown) Bernard. Dennis lived in Maine for most of his young adult life, then eventually moved to Waterbury. He was very dedicated and devoted to his job at EasterSeals for 20+ years as a shipping and receiving clerk. He was a wonderful man and husband to his wife, Marilyn for 55 years. He was a good friend to all, calling everyone his friend, never complaining about anything and he loved being around kids, especially his own. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family. Dennis was fiercely loyal, had a capacity to love that was un-ending and a giant of everything good, humility, integrity, generosity. Dennis will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Besides his loving wife, Marilyn, Left to cherish and honor his memory, besides his loving wife, Marilyn are his children; Dennis Bernard and his significant other Cheri of Prospect, Kenneth Bernard of Thomason and Craig Bernard and his wife Diana of Goshen, his stepchildren; Dawn Schuster of Torrington and Robert Hoyt and his wife Lya of Terryville, his siblings, William “Bill” Bernard, Ronald “Ronnie” Bernard, Andrea Gurney, John Bernard and Patricia Flynn and 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects and visit with Dennis’s family on Friday, May 23, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
