Obituary

SHELTON- It is with heavy hearts that the family of Dean Troia, age 72, of Shelton, says ciao for now to Dean Troia, a beloved
husband, caring father, brother and dear friend who passed away at the Lord Chamberlain Nursing Center on September 19, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Rosa (Velazquez) Troia.

Dean was born on January 5, 1954, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the late Lionel and Elsie (Machado) Troia. Dean grew up in Shelton and later moved to Naugatuck in the 1980s before returning to his childhood home in Shelton. He dedicated a significant part of his working life to UPS, where he served as a package delivery driver until his retirement in the early 2000s. Dean's work ethic was second to none, and he took pride in ensuring that every package was delivered with care. Outside of work, Dean found joy in purchasing and rehabilitating homes, and as a result, he owned several properties. He took great pride in maintaining these homes, but what truly mattered to him was creating a safe and welcoming environment for his tenants, whom he treated like family. Dean cherished the moments spent getting to know them and always made sure they felt well cared for. Dean's heart was also filled with love for his family. He treasured every moment spent around the dinner table, sharing good food and laughter. Dean brought joy and warmth to the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He built a legacy of love, kindness, and community that will be remembered by all who knew him

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his wife, Rosa Troia; his son, Matthew Troia, and his wife, Heidi Kunkel; his brother, Ronald Troia, and his wife, Janet Troia; several extended family members; and many friends. He was predeceased byhis daughter, Renay Troia and his twin sister, Debra Labrie.

A Memorial Gathering for Mr. Troia will be held at a time and date to be announced and will take place at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St, Waterbury, CT 06705. In this time of reflection, the family welcomes all who knew and loved Dean to share messages of condolence, comfort, and cherished memories.
