Mrs. Dawn Medina

April 3, 1960 — July 2, 2025

Waterbury

WATERBURY - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Dawn Medina, age 65 share the sad news of their  beloved wife, mother and grandmother's, peaceful passing on July 2, 2025, at the Vitas Inpatient Unit at Saint Mary's Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She was the devoted wife of Jose Medina and the cherished mother of Stephanie Lampron.

Dawn was born on April 3, 1960 in Meriden, CT, the daughter of the late Robert C. and Helen (Cashin) Gaylord. Dawn spent her life in Waterbury, where she was a cherished lifelong resident. Dawn's warmth and kindness touched the lives of many. Her passion for music and dancing brought joy not only to herself but to everyone who had the pleasure of sharing a moment with her. As a nurse's assistant for a short time at Waterbury Hospital and later with the City of Waterbury's Department of Education until her retirement in 2024, she dedicated her life to caring for others, always going above and beyond. Whether it was providing winter jackets to those in need or offering a simple, heartfelt hug, Dawn's generosity knew no bounds. A true family woman, she loved spending cherished moments thrift shopping with her grandchildren, forging bonds that will always be remembered. Despite having met her great-grandson only twice, her heart swelled with pride and love for him, and she cherished the title of great-grandmother. Dawn found joy in the company of her fur baby, her beloved cat, Kuma, and loved her fur grandbabies, who were a source of comfort and companionship throughout her life. Dawn's love leaves an indelible mark, and though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to inspire compassion and generosity in all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Left to honor her memory and legacy is her beloved companion and husband of 22 years, Jose Medina, her daughter, Stephanie Lampron of Waterbury, her stepson, Jesse Medina of Bristol, stepdaughter, Jennifer Zaccagnini, and her former husband, Mark of Watertown. She also leaves her adoring grandchildren; Evan Rodriguez, Amaya Gonell, Emma, Ty, and Kyle Zaccagnini, and Audrey Medina, as well as her great-grandson Jettziel Rodriguez
