OAKVILLE- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of David L. Bromley Sr., age 87, of Oakville, shares the news of his peaceful passing on Thursday, April 30, 2025, in the Vitas Hospice Unit of Saint Mary's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Romaniello) Jurkiewicz Bromley and the widower of Betty Ann (Palomba) Bromley.
Dave was born on June 11, 1938, in Middlebury, Vermont, the son of the late John R. and Violet (Kimball) Bromley. Dave came to Connecticut, graduated from Putnam High School, and shortly thereafter proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard. Dave earned his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Haven and his career as a mechanical engineer spanned several decades. He proudly owned and operated a Mobil service station in Waterbury before working for Uniroyal for over ten years. His talent and dedication led him to multiple manufacturing companies including Handy Harmon, Conn-Form and Stewart-Warner Corp in various management roles where he made significant contributions as a manufacturing engineer. Dave's entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly when he co-owned and served as CEO of Blase Manufacturing in Stratford. He continued to excel in the manufacturing industry, dedicating his talents until his retirement from Waterbury Contract Eyelet at the age of 85.
An avid golfer and passionate poker player, David lived life to the fullest. He embraced challenges, checking remarkable experiences off his bucket list, including driving a Dodge Viper at 106 MPH at Lime Rock Park, co-piloting an airplane out of Oxford, and achieving a celebrated hole-in-one on the 9th hole at Western Hills Golf Course. Dave was a true gentleman and will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and intelligence and the love he gave and the example he set. His encyclopedic memory for facts and an engineer's passion for understanding how things worked amazed us all. Above all, David treasured the moments spent with his family and friends, making lasting memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, besides his wife, Mary, are his three children: Dave (Mary Beth) Bromley, Richard (Kim) Bromley, and Bethanne (Randy) Watts, his seven grandchildren: Michael (Claire), Ryan, Brad, Amber, Kayla, Jacob, and Alexandra, four stepchildren: Dan (Michele) Jurkiewicz, Jeannette (Bob) Conklin, Carina Noyd, and Jean Gagnon; six step-grandchildren: Michael (Kali), Christian, Juliann, Nicholas, Keven, and Katelyn (Eric); two step-great-grandchildren: Annalize and Emmie. He also leaves his brother, Thomas Bromley, along with many extended family and friends. Dave was predeceased by his 16 siblings.
Funeral services for Mr. Bromley will be held on Monday, May 04, at 11:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of his family. Relatives and friends may visit with the Bromley family on Monday morning, May 4, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the services commence at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
