WATERBURY– It is with profound sadness and grief that the family of David R. Battistoni, age 81, of Waterbury, announce his passing on Sunday, January 7, 2024 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Charlotte (Nardello) Battistoni.
David was born on May 24, 1942 in Waterbury, the son of the late Aurelio and Elena (Bilanchone) Battistoni. He was educated in local schools, graduated from Croft High School, proudly served our country in the Army Reserves for 6 years and then went on to work for the Republican American Newspaper for 41 years starting as a printer and ultimately becoming the Business System Manager. David was an avid fisherman, enjoyed bowling and being a part of Perillo’s league for duckpin bowling, but nothing was more important to him than spending time with his family, enjoying their time together especially at traditional holidays such as Christmas Eve. He will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy, besides his loving wife of 61 years, are his three daughters; Debra Battistoni, Donna Bullard (Mike), and Gina Battistoni, his grandchildren: Heather Dubourg and fiancé Buddy, Jacob Dubourg (Laura), Ben Dubourg (Kayla), Tech Sgt. Caleb Dubourg (Siohhan), Michael Bullard II, Matthew Bullard (Skyla), Nicholas Battistoni (Kimberly), and Melissa Santoro (Kyle), his great grandchildren: Adrian, Athena, Delilah, Savannah, Harrison, Matthew, Aubrey, Levi, Colton, and Lucas. He also leaves his sisters; Veronica Williams (Thomas), and Marie Way (David), along with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. His family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Hartford Healthcare Hospice for their compassion, care, and treatment provided to David and his family during his illness.
Funeral services for David will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin Street, Waterbury. All those attending are kindly asked to meet directly at the Church. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with David’s family on Thursday evening January 11, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury.
