WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Daniel Ryan age 82 of Waterbury, shares the news of his peaceful passing on Monday, April 27, 2026 at Complete Care of Naugatuck after an extended illness.
Dan was born on December 7, 1943 in Waterbury, the son of the late David J. Sr and Delia (Crimmins) Ryan. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and Sacred Heart University with a degree in Accounting. He worked for many years as an Auditor/Accountant for the State of CT, Department of Revenue Services, retiring in 2015. Dan loved his city, was very proud of his Irish heritage, and was a devout Catholic. The place you were most likely to run into Dan was in church, whether St. Michael's or the Basilica; he had a strong faith and an extremely strong commitment to prayer. As an auditor and accountant, he knew the rules and regulations of tax law backward and forward and was always willing to share advice and counsel. Dan was a longtime member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Monsignor Slocum Division # 1 as well as other charitable and community groups. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all those who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to honor and cherish his memory are his sister, Joan Carey of Waterbury and many nieces, nephews and cousins of the Ryan, Crimmins, and Lush families, in addition to the Gorman family who were all so good to Dan.
Funeral services for Mr. Ryan will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. from Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St, Waterbury, CT, to St. Michael's Church, 62 St. Michael Dr., Waterbury, to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Old St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Dan’s family on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. In this time of reflection, the family welcomes all who knew and loved Dan to share messages of condolence, comfort, and cherished memories.
