WATERTOWN - Concetta (Basile) D’Ancona, age 71, of Watertown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at Milford Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow of Domenico D’Ancona to whom she had been married to for 42 years.
Concetta was born on April 30, 1952 in Pontelandolfo, Benevento, Italy, the daughter of the late Antonio and Antonetta (Valletta) Basile. She immigrated to the United States in 1968 and has lived in Watertown since 1980. Concetta was educated in Italy, after moving to the United States she owned and operated the former Center Deli in Watertown along with her husband for over 20 years. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening and took satisfaction in cooking, along with making special memories with her husband, children and grandchildren, and spending time with her family and friends. Our family thanks you Mom, for every prayer you uttered for us, for the many sacrifices you made for us, for the thousands of hugs you shared with us, and for the unending love you instilled in all of us. May you now enjoy the peace of eternal rest with Our Lord.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her children; Marino G. D’Ancona of Waterbury, Marylou Malerba and her husband Christopher, two grandchildren;Alexa and Julia Malerba, her brother Flavio Basile, nephew Antonio Basile, sister-in-law, Angelina Santucci along with extended family and friends.
Funeral Services for Concetta will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, when a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St John the Evangelist Church 525 Main St Watertown at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with the D’Ancona family on Friday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m at the Casey-O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St Oakville CT.
