Obituary

WATERBURY — It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Ms. Cheryl D. Christian, age 65, of Waterbury, say farewell for now to our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, following her peaceful passing at Saint Mary’s Hospital on Monday, October 19th, 2026.

Cheryl was born on May 9, 1961, in Richmond, Virginia, the daughter of the late Pleasant and Erdene (Wilson) Christian. Cheryl was a beacon of light to all who knew her. For over three decades, she devoted her life to serving as a Manager and Caretaker at RMS, where her compassion and commitment were evident in all she did. Cheryl's journey with RMS only concluded this past May, allowing her to enjoy well-deserved moments of rest and reflection. Cheryl’s legacy of selflessness and charity extended beyond her professional life. She led with love and grace as a Past Grand Daughter Ruler at the Clock City Temple in Waterbury and as a dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Calisto Chapter #4. Her home was a sanctuary for family and friends, as she nurtured and uplifted all around her. To her sons, Chauncey and Andre Christian, she was not only a mother but a guiding light, instilling values of kindness, strength, and unity. An avid dart player, Cheryl was recognized as an Elite Champion for her exceptional talent, winning over 30 awards and showcasing her competitive spirit. Her warmth, laughter, and dedication to her community will be profoundly missed and fondly remembered.

In a world that has lost a true caregiver and champion, we gather to remember Cheryl’s unmatched spirit and resilience. May her legacy of love, service, and unity continue to inspire us all.

Left to honor and cherish her memory are her children; Chauncey Christian of Waterbury and Andre D. Christian and his wife Ashlee of Middletown, her siblings; Neil Christian of Virginia, Patrick Christian of Virginia, Lance Christian of Waterbury, Sandra Hancock of North Carolina, Leslie Christian-Anderson of North Carolina, and Wendy Christian of Waterbury, her uncles; Cornell Wilson Sr. of Virginia, and Jessie Christian of Virginia, her cherished grandchildren; Jheniah Christian, Amari Christian, and Chosen Christian, as well as her nieces and nephews; Alaneisha, Cy, Quayron, Barbara, Angel, Dawn, Nikhomi, Jayden, Aleena, Jake, Levi, and a host of other nieces and nephews. Cheryl also leaves behind many beloved cousins, extended family members, and friends. Besides her parents, Cheryl was predeceased by her siblings; Malcom Wilson, Ellarene Wilson Williams, and Barbara Bourdeau.
