Charles "Chuck" Zibell

Devoted brother, Uncle and loyal friend
WATERBURY - Charles "Chuck" Zibell, age 62 of Waterbury passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of his family at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital on Friday, February 25, 2022 after an extended illness.

Chuck was born on January 15, 1960 the son of the late Joseph and Julia (Bannon) Zibell. He was a graduate of Kaynor Technical High School and was a longtime employee of the State of CT, Dept of Transportation. Chuck was proud of his Irish and German heritage, and spoke fondly of his trip to Ireland with his brother. He was a longtime member of the Knight of Columbus, Ancient Order of Hibernians and a proud friend of Bill W for 15 years, an accomplishment he was very proud of. He willingly shared the strengths he learned there with many friends and strangers alike. He was a diehard NY Yankees fan and also followed the NY Jets. Chuck had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a smile for everyone. He would be the first to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. As a resident of the Village at East Farms , Chuck was involved in nearly every activity. He was a devout Catholic. Chuck will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his siblings; his brother, Joseph Zibell and his wife, Bonnie of Avon, his sisters; MaryAnn Bunnell and her husband, Greg of Murrells Inlet, SC and Catherine Edmonds and her husband, David of Plantsville. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, two grandnephews and one grandniece and cousins especially Mary Lou Rogers and Joe Bannon. Chuck's family would like to thank and acknowledge the many caregivers who shared their love, care and professional services with Chuck over the years, especially Drs. Jega, Albajrami and Elias. You all made a difference in Chuck's life.

Funeral services for Chuck will be held on Tuesday March 1, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St, Waterbury, CT. Those planning to attend are asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.

Relatives and friends may visit with Chuck's family on Monday evening February 28, 2022 from 5:00 till 7:00 pm at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury. We remain very concerned about the pandemic so masks will be required for all indoor services regardless of one's vaccination status.
