Cecile Desjardins

February 11, 1928 — December 13, 2022

OAKVILLE – Cecile (Laporte) Desjardins, age 94, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on December 13, 2022, at the Vitas unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. She was the widow of Emil Desjardins.
Cecile was born February 11, 1928, in New Bedford, MA, to Paul and Rose (Forand) Laporte. At an early age the family moved to Waterbury and then to Oakville where Cecile lived for almost 80 years. She graduated from St. Anne Grammar School and Waterbury Catholic High. Upon graduation, Cecile worked at the Oakville Pin Shop in the timekeeping office. She then served as the organist and choir director at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville for 40 years. She was an accomplished pianist and organist. Cecile liked to garden, sew, and loved to play cards and dominos. She loved to host holidays and family gatherings and, in her younger days, New Year’s Eve card parties. Family get togethers always included a game of cards. She will be greatly missed by all who know and love her.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her four children; Peter Desjardins of Goshen, Annette (Rocco) Rosca of Vero Beach FL, Lorraine (Lenny) Smith of Oakville, Susan (Paul) Martin of Oakville; four grandchildren; Michael Rosca of Warren, OH, Carolyn (Kevin) Johnson of Bethesda, MD, Dr. Danielle Desjardins of Boston, MA, and Allison Smith of South Portland, ME; three great-grandchildren; Chase, Carter, and Camden Johnson. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Hermine Trudell of Madawaska, ME, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Emil, and her parents, Cecile is predeceased by her siblings; Alfred, Paul (Rosemarie) and Sr. Blanche Laporte CND; Two sons-in-law, Paul Martin and Lenny Smith; and her great-grandson, Coby Johnson.
The family would like to thank Lorane Peart, mom’s aide and companion for her kind dedication to mom and also Elizabeth Pang, mom’s homecare nurse manager from Vitas.
