Ms. Cathryn Phillips

November 3, 1956 — October 21, 2025

WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Cathryn Phillips, age 68, of Waterbury, shares the news of her peaceful passing on Tuesday, October 22, 2025, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind her devoted wife, Janet Boardman.

Cathryn was born on November 3, 1956, in New Milford, CT, the daughter of the late John and Mary Margaret (Haight) Phillips. She was a graduate of Newtown High School and went on to achieve her bachelor’s degree in social services at Wagner College in Staten Island. Cathryn worked for the CT Department of Public Health for over 20 years as the registrar of tumor records. A passionate gardener, Cathryn found joy in tending to her rose plants, nurturing them into beautiful blooms which brought great joy to all especially those who visited her home. She had a special fondness for Ogunquit Beach in Maine, where she would often escape to relax and enjoy the soothing sounds of the ocean. Cathryn was an avid reader, her culinary skills were beyond reproach, with her delicious lasagna and love for eggs benedict being some of the family favorites. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by all those that were blessed to know and love her.

Besides her wife, Janet of 45 years, left to honor and cherish her memory are her children; Trevor Zygmunt, and Shana Boardman, her grandsons; Caleb, Tyler, and Gabriel Zygmunt, sister-in-law, Sandy Phillips, niece, Jennifer Phillips-Casey, along with several nephews, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Caol Zygmunt, and her brother, John Anthony “Tony” Phillips.

All services for Ms. Phillips will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St. Waterbury, CT, has been honored to care for Cathryn and her family during this difficult time.
