ROXBURY- It is with profound sadness that the family of Mrs. Carol (Andersen) Goodwin, age 82, of Roxbury, formerly of Tennessee, shares the news of her peaceful passing on Wednesday, August 20, 2026, at River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Maynard Goodwin.
Carol was born on March 19, 1944, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Lachota) Andersen. Carol was a dedicated and passionate individual who embraced life with joy and enthusiasm. After graduating high school, Carol began her career in the payroll department at Harcourt Brace & Company in New York City, where she demonstrated her strong work ethic and commitment to her profession. Relocating to Tennessee, she continued to serve the community, working at the Appalachian Christian Village Assisted Living Facility in Johnson City and later as the front end manager at the Hills Department Store. After retiring to Roxbury, Connecticut, Carol remained active and devoted herself to her community, playing a significant role at the Roxbury Congregational Church and serving on the Council of Aging in Roxbury. Her heart was always open to friends and neighbors, and she helped anyone in need. In her leisure time, Carol loved to travel, listen to music, and dance, creating joyous memories, including the unforgettable experience of watching The Beatles land at JFK Airport. She cherished her family, friends, and the many beautiful moments shared with loved ones. Carol's warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memories are her sister, Sharon (Frank) Butto; her brother, Eric (Donna) Andersen; and sister-in-law, Pat, along with nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Carol was predeceased by her husband, Maynard; her sisters, Patricia and Sofia; and her brother, Edward.
