Brenda McDonald

January 30, 1962 — May 9, 2025

Devoted to her family

WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we share news of the passing of our beloved sister and aunt, Brenda McDonald age 63, on Friday, May 9, 2025 at the Vitas Inpatient Unit of St Marys Hospital after an extended but valiant battle with cancer.

Brenda was born on January 30, 1962 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Thomas and Ruth (Scully) McDonald. She was educated in local schools graduated from Notre Dame Academy and Sacred Heart High School and then graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in Dental Hygiene. Brenda worked for over 30 years with Dr Tom McCarthy DDS of Waterbury. In her early years she enjoyed tennis and golf, and she loved to travel with her many friends. You could always count on Brenda to have a good time and being the life of any party. She was extremely proud of her Waterbury roots and loved her city but not nearly as much as the love she shared with her family, her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was in her own way, the essence of life itself. Her legacy will live on through the stories she told, the lessons she taught, and the love that she shared. Her life was a testament to the power of love, the importance of family and honor of serving your community. May she find eternal rest and peace beyond measure and may she never be forgotten.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her siblings; Thomas McDonald and his wife Mary Ann of Little Silver NJ, John McDonald of Laconia NH and Laurie Gorey of Melbourne Australia, She also leaves her devoted special niece and nephew who were her primary caregivers; Jacqueline Cavanuagh and her husband Mark and Patrick D’Amico and his wife Jeanine as well as several other nieces, nephews and grands. She was predeceased by her siblings Kathleen McDonald D’Amico and Stephen McDonald.
