WATERBURY– With profound sadness and heavy hearts, the family of Mrs. Bertha (Bogdan) (Fusco) Perugini, age 99 of Waterbury, shares the news of her peaceful passing on Friday, January 16, 2026, at The Vitas Inpatient Unit of St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the widow of William Perugini.

Mrs. Perugini was born on July 14, 1926 in Holyoke, MA and the daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Skwarlo) Bogdan. She was educated in local schools and worked for many years as a cook at the Waterbury Day Nursery. Bertha was a master at many crafts such as crocheting, knitting and sewing and she truly enjoyed preparing food for family and friends. Bertha’s legacy will live on through the stories she told, the lessons she taught, and the love that she shared. Her life was a testament to the power of love, the importance of family and the honor of serving her community. May she find eternal rest and peace beyond measure and never be forgotten.

Left to cherish and honor Bertha’s memory are her children, Joseph Fusco and his wife Deborah of Cheshire and Susan Nagrabski of Naugatuck. She also leaves several grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. Bertha was predeceased by her son, Peter Fusco Sr, son-in-law Joseph Nagrabski, and her grandsons Peter Fusco Jr and Eric Nagrabski, as well as her two siblings; Joseph Bogdan and Helen Bakinowski.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Perugini will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
