Mr. Bassam Obeid

January 25, 1962 — July 1, 2025

SOUTHINGTON – It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Bassam M. Obeid, age 63, of Southington, share the news of his passing on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Khaola (Alkhalil) Obeid.

Bassam was born in Syria on January 25, 1962, the son of the late Mickael Obeid and Mariam (Alahmar) Obeid. In the early 2000s, he embarked on a new chapter, moving to the United States with his loving wife and three children. He enjoyed a long career as a vendor in the food distribution industry, known for his hard work and commitment to providing for his family. His passions included playing chess, tending to his garden, enjoying long phone conversations with friends and family, and savoring delicious meals, especially those he prepared. Morning coffee with his beloved wife, Khaola, was a cherished ritual, a time they both looked forward to. He also loved to travel, especially to Aruba but nothing brought him greater joy than spending quality time with his family, especially his ten grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, forever remembered in the hearts of his family and friends.

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memories, besides his beloved wife of 37 years, Khaola, Bassam leaves behind his children; Carol Stevens and her husband Jarrett of Harwinton, Sara Nesheiwat of Cheshire and Feras Obeid and his wife Danijella of Cheshire, his 10 grandchildren; Grace, Amelia, Clara, Henry, John, Maya, Steven, Anthony, Sophia and Julia and his siblings; Shehade Obeid of Florida, Nora Sanderre of France, Nahla Farah of Syria and Elie Obeid of Michigan. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Steven Mathew and his siblings; Samih and Hilane Obeid.
