IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Jean
Henderson
May 8, 1950 – January 2, 2026
WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Barbara Jean (Goodson) Henderson, most known as “Barb” or “Tunie” age 75, of Waterbury, shares the news of her unexpected passing on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of Timothy Henderson.
Barb was born in Darlington, South Carolina on May 8, 1950, the beloved daughter of the late Lee Goodson and Louise (Stevenson) Goodson. In 1955, Barb moved to Waterbury, Connecticut, where she dedicated herself to building a wonderful life filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. She was educated in the Waterbury public school system where she graduated from Wilby High School. In her early years, she became a beloved paraprofessional in the Waterbury and Wolcott School Systems, where she touched the lives of many students. Her commitment to community service was evident through her later years where she worked with New Opportunities of Waterbury, Inc. (NOW) and the Longhill Recreation Center.
Barb was not only known for her professional accomplishments but also for her vibrant spirit and deep love for family. She was an exceptional cook, famous for her fried chicken, and held a passion for music, particularly the old-school tunes she learned to appreciate from her brother, James. Family meant everything to Barb; she cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and especially her great grandkids. Weekly family visits brought her immense joy and were a highlight of her life.
Barb will be remembered for the love she shared, the lessons she imparted, and the warmth she brought to everyone around her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May her memory be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Left to cherish and honor her memory are her children; Tawana Henderson, Bushwar Henderson Sr. and Timotha Henderson, her grandchildren; Natoria, Cameron Sr., Amaryllis and Bushwar Jr, and her great- grandchildren; Cameron Jr., Cambrell, Amory, Jade D and Analeyah. She also leaves behind her siblings; Alice Wright, Stacey Goodson and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband; Timothy Henderson and her siblings; Dorothy, Delores, Geraldine, Lee Jr., Jayb, Henry and James Goodson.
