Lived a life defined by courage, devotion, and deep love for his family and country.
OAKVILLE - It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Arthur “Bill” W. Whiteway Jr., age 76, share the news of his passing at the West Haven Veterans Hospital on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Tina (Lyons) Whiteway.
Bill was born on September 18, 1948, in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Arthur and Annie (Whyles) Whiteway Sr. Bill proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, answering the call to duty with honor and bravery. His service was a testament to his enduring sense of patriotism, integrity, and strength; values that shaped every chapter of his life. Beyond his dedication to family and country, Bill found peace and joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially his love of fishing and riding his Harley-Davidson. Whether casting a line with his grandchildren by his side or hitting the open road on his beloved motorcycle, Bill embraced every moment with a spirit of freedom, adventure, and appreciation for life’s quiet gifts. Those memories of laughter by the water or the hum of a Harley down a sunlit road will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Bill was exceptional in almost every way, but he excelled the most at being a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His presence brought warmth and wisdom to every room. He was the rock of his family, offering guidance, support, and unconditional love. Whether through a shared story, a quiet laugh, or a helping hand, he left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and unwavering dedication. Though he may be gone from our sight, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched.
Bill leaves his loving wife, Tina; his stepchildren; James Latimer and Christopher Latimer and his daughter-in-law, Fluti Latimer. He was a proud and loving grandfather to seven grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
