WOLCOTT- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Arlene Catapano age 86 of Wolcott, shares the news of her peaceful passing on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family after an extended illness. She was the widow of Frank “Chico” Catapano, who passed in 2020.
Arlene was born on Jul 7, 1939 in Brooklyn NY, the daughter of the late Theodore and Grace (Hoffman) Heiser. She graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School in NY and spent the majority of her life as a dedicated homemaker and caretaker. Arlene devoted her life to the care of her family, most especially in raising her beloved daughter, Charlene, with unwavering strength and tenderness, and later in guiding and nurturing her grandchildren through their formative years. Her presence was one of quiet devotion and steady love. She was also known for her grace and pride in her appearance—Arlene was never not dressed to the nines with her favorite jewelry, always beautifully put together and ready to go, whether for a simple trip to the grocery store or one of her cherished outings to the casino. She carried herself with a sense of dignity and poise that was all her own. Arlene found joy in shopping, in time spent at the beach, and most especially in the company of her devoted family, where she felt most at home. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to honor her memory are her children: Charlene of Wolcott, Tammy Viarengo and her husband Robert of Bristol and Frank Catapano and his wife, Anne of Middlebury. She also leaves her beloved grandsons; Matthew, Ryan and Nicholas along with extended family, nieces and nephews, and friends. Arlene was predeceased by her brothers; Alfred and Warren Heiser.
Funeral services for Mrs. Catapano will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will follow in the State of CT Veterans Cemetery, 30 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT. Relatives and friends may pay their respects and visit with Arlene’s family on Friday morning from 9:30 until the service commences at 11:00 am. In this time of reflection, the family welcomes all who knew and loved Arlene to share messages of condolence, comfort, and cherished memories.
