Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather
WATERBURY- It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the family of Anthony “Tony” J. Amico, age 89, of Waterbury, announces his peaceful passing at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Mary’s Hospital. on Saturday, June 29, 2024, surrounded by love and comfort of his family. He was the devoted husband of Diana (Vallee) Amico. Tony was born on June 25, 1935, in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Thomas and Antonietta (Bisachia) Amico. He graduated Waterbury schools and went on to enlist in the United States Navy where he proudly served his country as a seaman apprentice. Over the next 40 years of his life, he led a fulfilling career in the beverage industry, making a significant impact on both his colleagues and the community. Following his retirement, he continued to dedicate his time and craft as the caretaker of Bunker Hill Congregational Church for 18 years. He took great pride in his work ethic which naturally earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him. Tony enjoyed boating on Candlewood Lake and was meticulous, spending countless hours improving his home, yard and vehicles. One of Tony's favorite memories were picnics with family and friends, which brought joy to everyone around him. Tony's greatest happiness was derived from his family, he was affectionally known as “Pop Pop” to his grandchildren. Anthony's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. Family meant the world to him, and he was a constant source of love, wisdom, and support. May his memory be a blessing to all.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory besides his high school sweetheart and the love of his life for 70 years. Diana, are his two daughters, Robin (Amico) Fogelstrom and her husband Harry of Southington and Alana (Amico) Jarl and her husband Andrew of Michigan, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, his brother, Thomas Amico of North Carolina and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Mark Amico, his sister, Josephine Marino, his brothers, Pat Amico and Joseph Amico, and his nephew, Oscar Marino.
Funeral services for Mr. Amico will be held privately at the convenience of his family. He will be interred in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. There are no calling hours.
