WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Ana Celia “Cely” (Rodriguez) Sepulveda, age 80, of Waterbury, shares the news of her tragic passing on Thursday, April 9, 2026. She was the beloved widow of Mr. Rafael Sepulveda, to whom she had been married for over 50 years.

Cely was born on April 26, 1945, in Penuelas, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Ezequiel Rodriguez. and Monserrate Rodriguez. Cely found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was tending to her beloved plants, perfecting her nails, or enjoying her well-deserved moments watching her favorite Spanish novellas. Her passion for cooking was matched only by her generous spirit; her home was always open, and no one ever left her table hungry—whether they were family or a kind stranger. She had a unique gift for making everyone feel like part of her family, embodying the spirit of generosity and love. Her famous oatmeal will be fondly remembered, particularly the way she had it lovingly delivered to her grandchildren, ensuring they felt her warmth and care even from afar. Her home was a sanctuary of cleanliness and organization, reflecting the discipline and care she infused into every aspect of her life. Cely leaves behind countless memories and teachings that will live on in those she loved and cherished.

Left to honor and cherish her memory are her children; Rafael Sepulveda Jr., Noel Sepulveda, Aracely Sepulveda, and Evelis (Sepulveda) Miranda, her siblings; Meco Rodriguez, Moncho Rodriguez, Julin Rodriguez, Wica Rodriguez, Rosy Rodriguez, Julia Rodriguez, and Angela Rodriguez. She also leaves her devoted grandchildren; Joshua Santiago, Destiny Guadalupe, Jonathan Guadalupe, Veronica Miranda, Nathan Guadalupe, and Rafael Sepulveda Jr, and her great-grandchildren; Joshua Santiago Jr., Aidan Santiago, Kailani Santiago, Jayziah Santiago, Camila Frias, Estelle De Oliveira and Zylus Santiago. Cely also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members, and many friends. Cely was predeceased by her siblings; Manuel Rodriguez, Pancho Rodriguez, and Elisa Rodriguez.

A Memorial Gathering for Mrs. Sepulveda will be held on Friday, April 24th, 2026, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of her family.
