WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Alton A. Trotman, age 91, of Waterbury, share the news of his peaceful passing on Sunday, September 14, 2025, in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Louise (Yates) Trotman.

Alton was born on August 14, 1934 in Waterbury, Connecticut, the son of the late Daniel W. Trotman Sr., and Essie (Matthews) Trotman. He was a lifelong resident of Waterbury and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He attended Oliver Wolcott Technical High School and embarked on a fulfilling career starting as a mail clerk and eventually became an Educational Program Coordinator at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury. His passion for work, coupled with his commitment to uplifting others, made him a respected figure among colleagues and those he served. He received a United States Congress Award of Excellence from the former President of the United States of America, Bill Clinton and the First Lady, Hilary and from the former Senator, Christopher Dodd, Senior Senator of Connecticut. Family was the cornerstone of Alton’s life. He was a devoted husband and father. Alton's love for his family knew no bonds; he was a steadfast provider and an unwavering support system. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, and his legacy of strength, kindness, and resilience will endure in their hearts.

As we gather to remember Alton, let us embrace the spirit of love he embodied and the joy he shared. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, Alton A. Trotman, you will forever remain in our hearts.

Left to honor his memory alongside his wife, Louise, of 65 years are his children, Donald K. Trotman and his wife Felecia of Waterbury, Ronald J. Trotman and his wife Helen of Lancashire, England, Shonda G. Trotman and Brian Trotman both of Waterbury, his grandchildren, Colin Trotman, Kyle Trotman and Sedrick Trotman, and his goddaughter, Siobhan Trotman. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his siblings; Daniel Trotman Jr., Milford Trotman, Clarence Trotman, Elmer Trotman and Mildred L. Trotman- Brooks.

Funeral services for Mr. Trotman will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St Waterbury CT. Burial will follow at the State Veterans Cemetery located at 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT.
