WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Alton Jones, age 71, of Waterbury, shares the news of his passing on Friday, April 3, 2026, in the blessed comfort of his home.

Alton was born on June 21, 1954, in Martin County, North Carolina, the son of the late Arguster Percy and Helen (Williams) Jones. Alton made his home in Waterbury, Connecticut, where he worked as a housekeeper at the Rose Garden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, touching the lives of many with his kindness and commitment to caring for others. His passion for art shone brightly throughout his life as an exceptional artist. Alton’s paintings were displayed in prominent places such as Waterbury Hospital, showcasing his deep appreciation for beauty and expression. A lifelong member of the Redeeming Love Church of God and Christ, Alton's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He loved the Lord deeply, and that love was at the heart of everything he did. His deep affection for music, especially classical and opera, often resonated in his home, filling it with melodies that uplifted his spirit. Alton was also an avid piano player, sharing his musical gifts with those around him. He found joy in his daily walks and was known for his unwavering support of the New England Patriots.

Left to honor and cherish his memory are his siblings: Arguster Jones Jr. of Waterbury, Jannie (Jones) Whitt and Helen Diane Jones of Florida, Linda M. Jones, Joseph Jones, Hazel Jones Moore, Madelyn Jones, Paul Jones and Ada Jones all of Waterbury. He also leaves his beloved goddaughter Kimaya Jones as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends. Alton was predeceased by his siblings: William Earl Jones, David Jones, Mack McKinley Jones, Carrie Bundy Jones, Annie Jones, and Alice Ruth Fleming.

Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be held privately at the convenience of his family. Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT, 06705, has been honored to care for the Jones’ family during this difficult time.
