Celebrating a life well-lived
WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Alice (Fuller)Payton, age 98, share the news of her peaceful passing on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Complete Care of Glendale. She was the widow of Edward Payton.
Alice was born on January 14, 1926 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Charles and MaryAnn (Rizzolo) Fuller. She attended local schools and graduated from Wilby High School.Following school, she worked in the office at Oakville Pin Company for several years forming life long friendships. Alice and Edward began their family, and she became a devoted Mother.She was an avid bowler, enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, singing in the choir, and reading.Alice was a Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching UConn Huskies Girls basketball. Alice and Ed spent most of their lives raising their family in the Gilmartin section of Waterbury with warm memories and a life well-lived. She cherished time spent with those she loved, including vacations, holidays, and sporting/school events for her children, and especially her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Deborah Sullivan and her husband Kevin of Gainesville, GA, Craig Payton and his wife Laura of Waterbury, CT, Pamela Sugrue and her husband John of Bristol, CT, along with her daughter in law, Sharon Payton of CA. Ed and Alice were blessed with several grandchildren; Melissa Sullivan, Brenda Bruce and her husband DJ,Stacie Payton and her husband John Ni, Emily Payton, Troy Payton, Carol Sugrue, Jennifer Sugrue, and Jilleen Sugrue as well as their great grandchildren; Eli, Jasmine, and great great grandchild Zyair, along with extended family and friends. She was predeceased by not only her husband, but her son, Leslie Payton, and her sister, Lorraine McGough
.Funeral services for Mrs. Payton will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury.Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit the Payton family on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
