WATERBURY - Mrs. Wilma I. Cidela, age 79 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday April 22nd 2016 at Abbott Terrace Health Care Center after an extended illness. She was the widow of Joseph Cidela.

Wilma was born October 17th 1936 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late William and Ida (Bernier) Harrison. She was raised in Waterbury where she attended local schools. She held various jobs throughout her life including a sales representative for Avon Cosmetics and a self-employed tax preparer. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed bowling, playing cards and spending time with her family and her beloved pets. She was a former parishioner of Saint Leo the Great Church.

Among her survivors are her children, Joseph M. Cidela and his wife, Colleen of Waterbury, William Cidela and his wife, Lisa of Wolcott, her daughters, Anita Tuozzola of Prospect, and Julie Cidela of Apopka, FL. She also leaves her brother, William Harrison and his wife, Lucille of Wolcott, her sister, Priscilla Faber of Seymour and her sisters in law, Marie Cidela of Watertown and Joyce Hubbard of Middlebury. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Erica Cidela-Messenger and her husband, Jason, Mark Irwin, Jodie Irwin and her great grandchildren, Loagan Irwin, Cayden Messenger, Jacob Broadway, Brooklynn Messenger and
Kolby Messenger as well as many nieces, nephews, and beloved pets. The Cidela family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at Abbott Terrace Health Care Center and the Staff at Vitas Hospice for the wonderful care they provide to Wilma and her family during her illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cidela will be held on Friday April 29th 2016 at 10:00 am at Saint Anthony RC Church RT 68 & 69, Prospect, CT to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Committal services will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. There are no calling hours. Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted to assist the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Wilma's memory can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
