AFFECTIONATLEY KNOWN AS DOLLAR BILL
WATERBURY - William "Dollar Bill" Stenson age 80, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly on March 3rd 2020 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St Mary's Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after a brief illness. He was the husband of Cheryl Stenson.
Bill was born January 31, 1940 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late William D. and Marjorie (Donahue) Stenson and was also predeceased by his grandmother. Lillian Hosey and aunt, Frances and uncle Bill Morrell, who both raised him. Bill attended
Sts. Peter and Paul Grammar School and Wilby High School in Waterbury and worked at Waterbury Buckle and Naugatuck Synthetic, where he was very active in the union and he retired from Platt Brothers. Bill enjoyed life! He loved to dance, shoot pool, play setback, scat and cheer loudly for his favorite team, the NY Yankees. He was a member of the AOH Club in Waterbury and was also a member of the Washington Hill Club. Bill was a coach of the Peter J Foley little league baseball team of Naugatuck and enjoyed playing softball for the Brown Derby in Naugatuck.
Left to cherish his memory and honor his love and legacy are his wife of 30 years, Cherie, his three children: Margie Bammann, Katie Torres, Bill Stenson and his wife, Darci of Torrington. Bill and Cherie were blessed with 9 grandchildren, Stefanie Dubourg, Richard and his wife, Carissa Carn, Gary Bammann Jr., Clay Torres, Sarah Baily, Madeline, William and Daniel Stenson and 5 great grandchildren: Derick, Briar Rose, Barrett, and Charley Jade.
A Private Memorial Service for Bill will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
