William M. McKenna

NAUGATUCK - Mr. William Michael McKenna, age 74 of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 11, 2015 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after an extended illness.

Bill was born February 13, 1941 in Waterbury CT, the son of the late Francis and Florence (Bradshaw) McKenna and was a lifelong Naugatuck resident and graduate of Naugatuck High School Class of 1960. He proudly served his country with US Navy serving as an E-4 aboard the USS Hissem during the Vietnam War Era. He spent over 30 years working as a service manager for Service Master of Waterbury and was involved with the Waterbury Civic Theater and was a parishioner of St Vincent Ferrer Church in Naugatuck. Bill enjoyed cooking for his family, especially on holidays and loved to host and entertain family and friends at his home where he would always be the life of the party.

Among his survivors are his sister, Carol Ricci and her husband Mike of West Haven as well as his dear friends, Sandy Mauro, Patricia Patterson, and Bob and Bonnie Gagnon in addition to many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members, he is predeceased by his sister Florence Kirdzik.

Funeral services for Mr. McKenna will be held on Saturday, August 15th 2015 at St. Vincent Ferrer Church 1006 New Haven Rd Rte. 63 Naugatuck at 10:00a.m. with a Military Honors Service in the church courtyard immediately following the service. Those who plan on attending are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family there are no calling hours.
