Loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren
WATERBURY -William J Cook Jr. age 90, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2020 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington after a brief illness. He was the beloved widower of Mary (Butler) Cook to whom he was married for 57 years.
Bill was born on March 24, 1930 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late William J. and Hazel (Thompson) Cook. He was a graduate of Crosby High School and attended Marannapolis Preparatory College in Thompson CT. Bill proudly served as a 1st Sergent with the US Army and was station in Germany during the Korean War. He worked as a salesman for the Lincoln Store and Caldor's in Waterbury, Shoppers World in Hamden and Arts TV and Appliances in North Haven. Bill, affectionately known as "Pop's", enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren which he believed was essential to his legacy. He loved telling his life stories and listening to all of their accomplishments. He will be missed by his longtime companion, his dog, Brodie. His last gift to his family was to hold on long enough and have a phone held to his ear while all of his grandchildren had the opportunity to say goodbye and he peacefully passed at the end of the call.
Left to cherish his memory and to share his stories is his family; his son, Christopher H. Cook and his wife, State Representative Michelle L. Cook of Torrington. Step-son's; David L'Heureux and his family of NJ and Jamie L'Heureux and his family of CO. He also leaves his daughter- in- law, Terry Quattro Cook of Waterbury. Bill was blessed with his 6 adoring grandchildren and their spouses: Ryan Cook, Katlyn and her husband, Kyle Rosadino, Ashlynn Cook, William Cook, Alyssa and her husband, Brian Nugent and Christina Cook. He was predeceased by his son, Attorney William J. Cook III, his sister, Dorthea Cook and his brother, Francis Cook
Due to the current COVID-19 guidelines and associated governmental restrictions regarding the pandemic, all services for Bill will be held privately. Once the restrictions are lifted, a community Memorial Service will be announced. Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home has been honored to assist the Cook family during this difficult time.
