Former Commander of the Franco-American War Veterans

WOLCOTT- William J. Carpentier, age 99, of Waterbury CT, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, June 21st 2019 at the Cheshire House Rehabilitation Center in Waterbury after a brief illness. He was the widower of Isabelle (Zilinskas) Carpentier.

William was born March 27, 1920 in Waterbury, CT the son of the late William E. and Jeannette (Bigue) Carpentier. He was educated in local schools and proudly served his country with the US Army during World War II. William worked as a Government Inspector at various places including Wallace Barnes, Pitney Bowes, and Timex. William was a member and former commander of the Franco-American War Veterans, a parishioner of St Pius X Church and the Wolcott VFW Post 1979. Bill also enjoyed spending time outdoors and was devoted to his wife and family. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and by all who were blessed to know and love him.

Among his survivors are his niece, Jeannette Tapper of Waterbury, and his nephew, Joseph Lamontagne and his wife, Anne of Cheshire. He is also survived by his grandnieces; Michelle Tapper, Joelle Lamontagne-Medina and her husband, Hector; Jennifer Corning and her husband, Michael, and Marion Lamontagne. In addition he also leaves his grandnephew, Peter Lamontagne and his wife, Julia Grasso, great grandniece, Adelyn Medina and great grandnephew, Owen Medina. He was predeceased by his nephew, Peter Lamontagne, his sister Irene Lamontagne and his grandnephew, Marc Lamontagne.

Funeral services for Mr. Carpentier will be held on Thursday June 27, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. St Basil the Great Parish, St Pius X Church, 517 Woodtick Rd, Wolcott, CT 06716. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery Waterbury. There are no calling hours.
