WATERBURY, CT - Ms. Vanessa Skrip age 61 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2015 at the Glendale Health Care Center in Naugatuck surrounded by the love and comfort of her family and friends after an extended illness.
Vanessa was born October 10th 1953 in Waterbury, CT the daughter of the late George Sr.and Rosemary (Fisher) Skrip. She was educated in local schools and received her nursing degree from Mattatuck Community College. She worked as an RN for several medical facilities in the Greater Waterbury Area for many years including Saint Mary's Hospital where she was a charge nurse and Autumn Lake Health Care, formerly Waterbury Convalescent Center where she was a RN Supervisor and Infection Control Manager as well as providing home care nursing to many home bound patients. She was spunky, straight forward, and an advocate for her friends, patients, and family and will always be remembered for her sassy attitude, blunt honesty, and unconditional generosity.
Among her survivors are her son, Anthony Czapiga of Waterbury who was the light of her life, her brother, George Skrip Jr. and his wife, Sharon of Naugatuck, her sister, Beverly Martin of Waterbury as well as several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Skrip.
Funeral services for Ms. Skrip will be held on Tuesday, September22, 2015 at7:00pm at Eastside Memorial "A Casey Family Funeral Home and Tribute Center" 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury relatives and friends may visit with Vanessa family on Tuesday evening from 5:00 ~ 7:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
