WATERBURY - Mrs. Theresa (Ficeto) "Tree" Connelly, age 90, of Waterbury, died peacefully on Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of John J. Connelly.
Tree was born in Brooklyn NY on February 13, 1923 the daughter of the late Anthony and Lillian (Johnson) Ficeto. Tree was a lifelong Waterbury resident, graduated from Duggan Grammar School and Crosby High School. She was an exceptional athlete excelling in basketball, golf and softball. Tree was a parishioner of SS Peter & Paul Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Cecilia "Cissy" Laraway and her husband Wayne of Waterbury, her son Michael with whom she made her home, a sister, Dorothea Bussman of Essex and her daughter-in-law, Janet Connelly of Greenville SC. She also leaves five grandchildren, Christine Campasano, Amy Banach, Carrie Woodward, Ann Yukish and John Connelly as well as 9 great grandchildren; Isabelle,Griffin, Liam, Luke, Matthew, Nora, Molly, Ryan and Olivia. Tree was pre-deceased by her son State's Attorney John A. Connelly and her brothers, Joseph and Walter Ficeto.
Funeral services for Mrs. Connelly will be held on Monday, July 8, 2013 with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at SS Peter & Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd at 10:30am.
