THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF THEODORE "TED"" GREGGIS


WATERBURY- Theodore P. "Ted" Greggis Jr., age 71, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday December 28th 2018 surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was the devoted husband of Kathleen (Hayes) Greggis.

Ted was born in Waterbury, the son of the late Theodore P. and Margaret (Thompson) Greggis Sr.. and proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Ted was a graduate of Kennedy High School and will always be remembered for his tremendous work ethic. He was employed by the City of Waterbury; first in the Engineering Department and then as a firefighter for over 20 years where he was stationed on Truck 3 and Engine 2 on East Main St. He also worked as a delivery man for Brass City Printing and Universal Copy in Naugatuck and spent many years in the family business with his father and brother Al at Ted Greggis and Sons Painting and Wallpapering.

Ted was a true family man and especially loved holiday gatherings. He and his wife Kathy, enjoyed family vacations and trips to Massachusetts where they would attend Red Sox games at Fenway Park, and playing golf on Cape Cod. They also enjoyed trips to Maine and taking cruises with friends. He enjoyed "Cruising" in his corvette, hanging out with the guys at Ray's Garage, breakfast with his buddies, and Thursday nights with Jimmy and Gary. Ted was a member of the Sportsman's Golf League at Western Hills Golf Course for many years and could be found there every Wednesday afternoon. He was a parishioner of SS Peter and Paul Church and Ted will be greatly missed and loved by all who were blessed to know and love him

Ted's family would like to thank the constant flow of friends who visited Ted, these past few months. They want you all to know that you provided him and his family with so much love, support and laughs, which got them through his illness. Everyone said the same thing: "He was the best man they ever knew." They would also like to thank the Waterbury Fireman's Mutual Aid, the staff at Cheshire House Rehab, Hartford Healthcare at Home, especially Anjelica and a great big thanks to the entire staff of the Lodge at the Village at East Farms, especially the RCA's who made us all feel well taken care of

Besides his loving wife of 46 years, Kathy, Ted is survived by his son, Theodore E. Greggis and his wife, Rachel of W. Palm Beach FL. his brother, Alan Greggis of Prospect, his sister and brother in law, Doris and John Augelli of Watertown, his nephews, Alan Greggis Jr. and his wife Chrissy, John Augelli Jr. and Matthew Greggis as well as his great niece and nephew, Alyssa and Owen Greggis in addition to several cousins and many friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Greggis will be held on Thursday, January 3rd 2019 at Saints Peter and Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd. Waterbury when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Ted's family on Wednesday evening, January 2nd from 4:00 ~7:00 pm at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St @Southmayd Rd Waterbury CT 06705.
