Westfield, MA - Sherri Hynd Lounsbury age 56, formerly of Wolcott, CT, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 4th, 2015 at Noble Hospital in Westfield, MA.
The daughter of Joan (Abbas) Hynd and the late Malcolm Hynd, Sherri grew up in the Springfield area where she attended local schools prior to moving to Wolcott Connecticut where she raised her family with her former husband John Lounsbury. She was a graduate of The University of Bridgeport where she earned her bachelor's degree in Nursing. Her 30 year nursing career began in the ICU at Park City Hospital and concluded at Waterbury Hospital. During her career, Sherri received several awards for her outstanding patient care and devotion to nursing. After her nursing career, she relocated back to the Springfield area where she made her new home with Joe Garlo. One of Sherri's favorite things to do was to spend time on the beach in the Outer Banks reading a good book. The most important thing to Sherri was her family. She was always happiest while spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Among her survivors are her sons, John "Jake" Lounsbury, Matthew Lounsbury and his fiancée, Kimberly Job, Michael Lounsbury, and her daughter, Sarah Lounsbury and her fiancée, Damien Gerbin. She also leaves her grandchildren; Aubrey, Evan, and Austin, her mother, Joan Hynd, and her sister, Tammie Minnie.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lounsbury will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 7:00pm at Eastside Memorial " A Casey Family Funeral Home & Tribute Center" 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Sherri's family on Tuesday evening from 4:00pm until the time of the service. A reception will be held immediately following the services at the Wolcott Activities and Learning Center until 11:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Sherri's name to High Watch Recovery Center, 62 Cutter Rd. PO Box 607 Kent, CT 06757.
