Selma Haddad

d. December 8, 2019

Selma Haddad, 93, Wolcott, CT. died Sunday, December 8, 2019 at home surrounded by her loving family. Selma was born in Torrington, CT and was the daughter of the late Bolus and Libby (Hannah) Haddad. She worked as a homemaker and Administrative Assistant in the Wolcott School System from 1973 -2003. Selma was a member of St. Pius X Church in Wolcott since 1959. She (Sally) and her beloved husband, Lou, lived in New Britain for many years, where she was an active member at St. Joseph's Church. Selma was a member of the choir and the Rosary and Ladies' Guilds. After moving to Wolcott in 1959, she continued her love of her church and her choir. She joined St. Pius X Church and has sung in that choir for almost sixty years. Widowed at forty-five years old, Selma became the matriarch of all matriarchs. She selflessly devoted her life to her children and grandchildren and loved spending individual time with each of them. Selma taught them how to play cribbage and loved playing some very competitive games. In keeping with her competitive nature, she also bowled on a league for many years. In addition, she was a die-hard New York Yankees fan. Selma was a voracious reader and a frequent visitor to the Wolcott library where she would borrow several books weekly. She was very proud of her Lebanese heritage and was thrilled to be named Wolcott's first honorary Lebanese Mayor of the Day in November 2000. In her "spare" time, she enjoyed having dinner and a movie night with her dearest friends. Selma also loved spending time at the beach every summer with the entire family. Everyone knew how much she loved people. Her door was always open, and friends remember the smell of fresh coffee throughout her kitchen no matter when they came to visit. She be will missed by all.

Selma is survived by her six children Dale Haddad, Debora (Haddad) Taylor, Louis Haddad and his wife Debbie, Miriam (Mim) Moore and her husband Joenathan, Elizabeth (Haddad) Bozzuto and her husband Joe and Selma Haddad, her six grandchildren Courtney (Taylor) Ribeiro and her husband Will, Stephanie (Taylor) Plaza and her husband E.J., Jennifer (Haddad) Blake and her husband Hunter, Alison Haddad and her fiancé Alex, Joseph Bozzuto and his significant other Charlotte, Michael Bozzuto and his significant other Rachel, one great granddaughter Emmie Rose Plaza. In addition, she is survived by her step granddaughters Bree Bozzuto and Mia Tziokas, her dear sister-in-law Judy Haddad, her two godchildren, nephew, Michael Haddad, and niece, Audrey (Haddad) Perrotti, and several other nieces and nephews. Selma was predeceased by her two sisters, Elizabeth (Maym) Shaker and Miriam Harper, and her brother, Frederick Haddad and a dear friend, Ameen Haddad.
