WATERBURY - Ruth Mary Lawson Ryan, age 88 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at her home. She was the widow of Francis Ryan
Mrs. Ryan was born in Waterbury CT on May 22, 1930, the daughter of the late Claude Lawson and Margaret (Coffey) O'Connor and the stepdaughter of the late John O'Connor. Ruth graduated from Sacred Heart High School and was a lifelong Waterbury resident where she met her husband, Francis. After raising two daughters, Ruth worked for the Office of the Mayor, City of Waterbury as well as the Waterbury Probate Court.
Ruth is survived by her daughters; Christine Ryan and her husband, John Zimmer of Corinth VT and Mary Ellen Marchitto and her husband, Vincent of Salem CT, her sister, Marguerite DeGostin of Westport and her special niece, Dorothy Cronin of Waterbury. She also leaves her grandchildren, to whom she was affectionately known as "Bird"; Keri Marchitto Bianco and her husband, George of NC, David Marchitto of Salem CT, Erin Fink and her husband, Justin of Plainville and great grandchildren, Gavin and Emilia Bianco as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ryan will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements.
