WOLCOTT - Ruth V. Fortier age 87 of Wolcott, passed away peacefully on Thursday September 7, 2017 at the Meridian Health Care Center in Waterbury after an extended illness. She was the widow of the late Theodore Fortier.
Ruth was born September 20th 1929 in Waterbury CT, the daughter of the late Violet Gendron. She grew up in Cheshire where she attended local schools and spent many years working as a bus driver for the Town of Wolcott until her retirement. During her years a bus driver, she had made many friends and always looked forward to seeing the children she took to school as grown adults. Ruth lived her life, young at heart and never let her age determine how to enjoy life, dress, or act. Ruth was always happiest while sitting by the pool and maintaining her home and yard.
Among her survivors is her daughter, Lisa LaBonte of Plainville, her daughter in law, Ann Fortier of Waterbury, her brothers, Edward and Milton Gendron as well as her sisters, Jacqueline Swiridowski, Barbara Wheeler, Joan Cerasale, Jeanette Tegolini and Diane Desrochers. She also leaves her five grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sons, Mark and Theodore W. Fortier, as well as her brother, Earl Gendron and her sister, Beatrice Grenier.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Fortier will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury CT. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
