WATERBURY - Rosa Blanca Mina, age 91, formerly of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on December 9th, 2020, at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness.

Rosa was born November 7th, 1929, in Bogota, Colombia, the eldest of eleven and daughter of the late Eccehomo and Maria Inez Dominguez. Initially settling in New York City after arriving in the United States in 1959 with her then-husband Guillermo Mina and their four sons, then moving to Waterbury in 1967. Rosa worked as a machine operator for various companies throughout the greater Waterbury area, including Uniroyal, Timex, and Bendix Aerospace. She was an avid reader who enjoyed cooking for her family, knitting winter scarves, hats, giving them gifts (sometimes during the summer), and caring for her plants. Rosa especially enjoyed going on extended vacations to Colombia to spend time with her family.

Left to cherish her memories and honor Rosa's love and legacy are her three children, Manuel Mina, and his wife, Oezlem of Ruesselsheim, Germany. Daniel Mina and his life partner, Verzem Poveromo of Naugatuck, Jessica Mina, of Bristol, with whom she made her home and her former daughter-in-law, Paula Mina of Naugatuck. She is also survived by her siblings in Colombia, Luisa, Aura, Carlos, Flor, Vilma, Yolanda, Cristina, and Sandra Dominguez-Gomez, her ten grandchildren, Monica Jacobson, Jessica Mina-Knopp, Jennifer Mina, Christina Paniagua, Daniel Mina, Melissa Cromwell, Gabriel Mina, Hazal Mina, Jason Soto, and Alejandro Mina, thirteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Rosa was predeceased by three sons George Mina, Jose Mina, Mario Mina, and two brothers, Daniel and Hernando Dominguez-Gomez.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Sue Chellis, Dr. Amjad, and their team at Waterbury Hospital for the care and compassion they have shared with Rosa and her family.
