WATERBURY, CT - Ronald C. Rutkowsky age 73 of Waterbury passed away peacefully on July 11, 2017 at his home after an extended illness. Karen (Barnes) Rutkowsky was his wife for many years.

Ronald was born March 14, 1944 in Shenandoah, PA the son of the late Joseph and Mildred (Barowsky) Rutkowsky. He attended St. Joseph's Grammar School and Croft High School where he was an outstanding basketball player. He was a graduate of the University of Connecticut where he received his bachelors degree in psychology and received his master's degree in school psychology from Southern Connecticut State University. He worked as a psychologist at Southbury Training School and eventually went on to work as a school psychologist for the City of Waterbury school system until his retirement after 30 years. Ronald enjoyed coaching and was a member of the Bunker Hill Sports Association where he coached several teams in addition to coaching at West Side Middle School. Ronald enjoyed spending time by the ocean, fishing and boating and enjoyed listening to music as well as singing and playing music with his friends. He was an avid animal lover and enjoyed recording and creating video libraries of his family and friends.

Besides Karen, Ronald is survived by his daughter, Shannon E. Rutkowsky, and his son, Joseph J. Rutkowsky. He also leaves his sister in law and brother in law, Dianne and Attorney Michael Cicchetti, his brother in law, Joseph Vaichus in addition to nieces, nephews, and several cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Rutkowsky and his sister in law, Linda Vaichus.

Funeral services for Mr. Rutkowsky will be held privately and at the convenience of his family, burial will take place in in St Joseph's Cemetery in Bristol. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ronald's memory may be made to the Boy's and Girls Club of Waterbury at 1037 East main St Waterbury, CT 06705. Casey's Eastside memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St has been entrusted to assist the family with the arrangements.
