Milagros Escobar

April 14, 1944 — August 14, 2022

Devoted Mother and Grandmother

WATERBURY- Milagros (Lopez) Escobar, 78 of Waterbury and Naugatuck, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, in the comfort of her home, with her son by her side, after an extended illness.

Milagros was born on April 14, 1944, in San Sebastian Puerto Rico the daughter of the late Guerrero Vega and Beatriz Lopez. She worked for over 30 years as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) at both Park City and Bridgeport Hospitals. She was a faithful member of St Luke’s Episcopal Church in Bridgeport initially and then St John’s Episcopal Church in Waterbury during the later stages of her life. While she was a faithful, Christian woman her passion in life was helping others, especially her grandchildren. She was a special grandmother who enjoyed having them around here every chance she got. She was a longtime supporter of the March of Dimes and Cancer research and participated in many events to raise funds for several causes. She enjoyed the family-type bond she developed over the 34 years she spent with her neighbors in Lantern Park in Naugatuck. Milagros will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her son, Efrain Escobar Jr. of Waterbury, her beloved grandchildren; Zoe, Sophia Olivia, and Sascha Escobar, and many special friends and co-workers from Bridgeport Hospital that she surely considered family. The Escobar family would like to both thank and acknowledge all of the staff at Hartford Healthcare Hospice at home for the professional and loving care they provided to Milagros and the entire family during her illness. Your tireless dedication is very much appreciated.

In accordance with Milagros’ wishes, a private funeral service will be held at a later date in San Sebastian Puerto Rico. The family again appreciates all of the kind words and prayers extended to them.
