Beloved husband, father and grandfather
WATERBURY – Jose A. Cruz age 80 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by the love of his family after an extended illness. He was the husband of Delia Cruz.
Mr Cruz was born on June 28, 1941 in Puerto Rico the son of the late Juan and Maria (Arroyo) Cruz. Jose worked in the construction industry throughout the area and was an avid baseball fan always rooting for his favorite team the NY Yankees. Jose had an unusually wonderful sense of humor and was active in his church community, Todos Los Santos but was especially important to Jose was his family and he was always happiest surrounded by them. Jose lived life to the fullest, blessed by the love of family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his children; Jose F. Cruz and his wife, Marylou of Waterbury, Jose L. Cruz of Orlando, Griselle Nieves and her husband, David and Iris Pena and her husband, Ivan Viega. Jose was blessed with several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many close friends
Funeral Services for Mr. Cruz will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 309 South Main St Waterbury at 1:00 p.m. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Cruz family on Wednesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury CT. 06705.
