Lifelong Waterbury Resident
WATERBURY – Henry John Swircenski, age 93 of Waterbury passed away peacefully on Monday, September 5, 2022 in the comfort of his home with his family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Jeannette (Bellefeuille) Swircenski.
Henry was born on January 21, 1929 in Waterbury, the son of the late Antoni and Mary (Zdoncyzk) Swircenski. He was a lifelong Waterbury resident and proudly served his country during the Korean War with the United States Army in the Engineer Corp. After his honorable discharge, he worked as a Machinist at the Waterbury Farrel Foundry and Machine Co. until his retirement after 30 years of service. He was a dedicated parishioner of St Francis Xavier Church where he was an usher and gift bearer. He was an honorary member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) Monsignor Slocum Division #1, where he enjoyed socializing with his friends and tending bar. He was fond of feeding the birds in his backyard along with gardening, bowling reading the daily newspaper as well as exploring the internet on his IPad.
Henry will be greatly missed by the loved ones he leaves behind, especially his devoted wife of 68 years, Jeannette; three sons; Mark Swircenski and his wife, Judy of Eagle River Alaska, Gary Swircenski and his fiancée, Cindy Van Deursen of Waterbury and Alan Swircenski and his wife, Sharolyn of Anchorage Alaska; his daughter, Lori Swircenski and her spouse, Kimberly Sudnick of West Simsbury. Henry and Jeannette were blessed with nine grandchildren; JoDee Kenney and her husband Donovan, Jason Swircenski and his wife, Kylee Jennifer Dyer and her husband Kevin, Catherine, Tiana and Hanna Swircenski, Dan VanDuersen and Will and Harry Sudnick. He also leaves his seven great-grandchildren; Joseph, Trinity and Anyssa Kenney, Tacoma and Aleeyah Swircenski, Arian and Aries Gallagher and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Henry was predeceased by his two brothers; Alfred and Emil Swircenski and three sisters; Adella Bansleben, Henrietta Zukowski and Jennie Rynecki.
Funeral services for Mr. Swircenski will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. from Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St @ Soutmayd Rd Waterbury CT to St Francis Xavier Church 625 Baldwin St Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury, Relatives, and friends may visit with the Swircenski family on Friday morning from 8:30 a.m. till 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
