Ms. Agnes Corona

July 24, 1927 — January 21, 2023

“Beloved Mother and Grandmother”
WATERBURY - Ms. Agnes (Aggie) Corona, age 95 of Waterbury, kicked off her dancing shoes and peacefully danced her way in to heaven on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Beacon Brook Health Center in Naugatuck.

Agnes was born in Birmingham, Alabama on July 24, 1927, the daughter of the late Michael and Madeline (Aldino) Corona. She was a sassy, sweet woman who had a heart of gold and was an amazing mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt & friend. She dedicated most of her life to being an assembly line worker at Uniroyal in Naugatuck and Sperry in Waterbury. Once she retired, she became an avid cook/baker for anyone around her who would take her food. You could find her climbing the cabinets in her pantry to reach all of the main ingredients to her famous dishes. Let’s not forget : "no one's cheesecake is as good as Aggie's." If she wasn't in the kitchen, she was outside in her garden picking squash flowers so she could fry them up later that day. She spent the rest of her free time enjoying her ceramics classes, playing Skip Bo with her lady friends, and line dancing on Friday nights. At any event that she attended, she was the first one on the dance floor and the last one off. She was always the life of the party.

Left to cherish her memory and honor her legacy are her granddaughter, Alyssa Farrington and her husband, Michael of Prospect, CT, and her son in law, Robert Thomes of Waterbury, CT. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends who she loved dearly. She was predeceased by, and finally reunited with, her daughter, Cheryl Thomes, who was Agnes' pride and joy, along with three brothers, Mariano "Morris" Corona, Sebastian "Buster" Corona, Joseph Corona, and three sisters, Vita Saginario, Rose Kubik & Josephine Conley.

Agnes' family would like to send special thanks to Southmayd Home in Waterbury, CT, for their outstanding care, compassion and friendship that was shown to her during her years spent there.

Please join us in celebrating her life on Thursday February 2, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Francis of Assisi Church, 1755 Stanley St, New Britain, CT. All those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care is honored to be caring for Agnes and her family during this difficult time. Loving kindness is always welcome, and it only takes a moment to offer a message of condolence, words of comfort, or share a memory with the family and friends of someone important to you. Please visit the funeral home’s tribute page at www.caseyfunerals.com to do so. However, if you are able, attending the service is a thoughtful and caring way to show your support.
